The Spice Tree
The Spice Tree – recently opened at Double Tree at Hilton (Mankhool) received an overwhelming response with their iftar launch during Ramadan. It quickly gained popularity and strives to satisfy it’s customers with the fusion concept.
An Asian restaurant mainly inspired by North Indian cuisine will surely keep on coming back for more with their recent revamping of menu items.
Chef Gautam Sethi is the man behind the scenes, and he’s done a spectacular job to not only bring together the flavors, but also make the food visually appealing.
It proved to be a rare case, where i would generously rate all items 5 star. With great delight and pure honestly….
Lavash Basket
Rating: 5/5 – Highly Recommended
Instead of the standard papad basket, an assortment of lavash is served with dips while your meal is prepared.
For those of you who are not familiar with lavash, it is a thin flatbread baked in a tandoor (clay or metal oven)
70 Degree Duck
Rating: 5/5 – Highly Recommended
I was excited to try out duck for the first time!
Perfectly cooked with a mildly sweet-spiced ginger and chili glaze, sprinkled with sesame seeds and served alongside a colorful Asian slaw.
Duck was flavorful and tender.

The staff was kind enough to assemble an assortment of both sushi and momos enabling me to taste a variety.
Though i am not a huge sushi fan, as sushi calls for an acquired taste. However, the sushi platter was not only visually appealing, but also offered a different flavor for each type.
The steamed assortment of momos were beautifully crafted and burst with flavors.
I usually prefer steamed over pan fried momos, and these were perfect as per my liking.
Both sushi and momos are served with a variety of dipping sauces. My favorite was the schezwan sauce.
Egg and mango tart acted as a palate cleanser.
Funjabi Pasta
Rating: 5/5 – Highly Recommended
Disclaimer: It’s not your typical pasta! It tasted better than you could possibly anticipate!
Inspired by old Delhi achari seafood tossed in pasta, and served with garlic naan was a unique fusion. Once you are done devouring this dish, you can wipe of the delicious remnants with the garlic naan.
Curr-izza Selection
Rating: 5/5 – Highly Recommended
Yet again inspired by Old Delhi, butter chicken being a favorite North Indian curry served as pizza could be the next best thing.
Honestly, the fusion was divine. The levels of spice and a bit of sweetness in the curry were perfect.
Highly recommended for all butter chicken fans!
Biryani pots
Rating: 5/5 – Highly Recommended
Biryani – when cooked in a clay pot tastes even better.
Simmered with a coating of dough, which keeps the steam from escaping and helps the flavors to infuse during the process of dum. The staff cuts into to unravel the aromatic dish.
Kababs
Rating: 5/5 – Highly Recommended
Once again, i was presented with an assortment of kababs. The staff was extremely kind, and eager that i try out the variety offered.
Tandoor range is offered in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Kababs are always served with papad, dal makhni, jeera rice, achar, raita and gajar ka halwa (I was full, i couldn’t help myself but to indulge in this sweet delight)
Though i loved everything, my personal favorite was the chicken bhatti kabab, and Afghani tandoori chicken.
Other items were salmon dill tikka, and lamb galouti kabab.
Philadelphia cheese malai broccoli with rose petals was an interesting item.
Beverages
Rating: 5/5 – Highly Recommended
Gulkand Bahar: A medley of rose syrup, gulkand (sweet rose preserve) paste and lemon juice creates a refreshing drink which was my favorite and highly recommended.
Pomegranate Lassi: I opted for pomegranate lassi over the traditional lassi which turned out to be a good choice. I will not compare the two, as both of them have distinct flavors.
